Ask questions across your research papers

When you are reading ten papers for a literature review, finding which one used which method takes hours. Upload the PDFs to one workspace and ask across all of them, or only the papers you select. Every claim in the answer cites the paper and page, so you can check it and cite the original.

Questions researchers ask

  • “What sample size and method does each of these papers use?”
  • “What does the 2024 paper conclude about long-term effects?”
  • “Which of the selected papers mention limitations of their data?”
  • “How is the main outcome measured in this study?”
  • “Where does the paper define its inclusion criteria?”
  • “Summarise the discussion section of this paper.”

How it works

  1. 1

    Upload the papers

Add the PDFs of a project to one workspace. Up to 1000 pages per document on Pro.

  2. 2

Ask across papers or narrow down

Ask the whole workspace, or select the papers you want to compare in a chat.

  3. 3

    Verify and cite

Each claim links to the paper and page, so you can quote the original in your own work.

Good to know

  • Focused questions work best. For a broad question, select only the papers it is about.
  • Text in charts and figures is not read from text-based PDFs, so ask about what the text and tables say.
  • Language models can make mistakes. Always check the cited page before you cite a paper.

Questions

How many papers can I ask about at once?

All documents in a workspace: up to 3 on Free, 50 on Personal and 500 on Pro. Answers are built from the most relevant passages, so precise questions give the best results.

Does UpAsk add outside knowledge to the answer?

No. It answers only from the papers you uploaded and says so when they don't contain the answer.

Can I export my work?

Yes. You can export a workspace, including its documents and chats, as a ZIP file.
