Which files can I upload?

PDF (including scanned PDFs), Word (.docx and older .doc), RTF, OpenDocument (.odt) and plain text. Size and page limits depend on your plan.

My document says Failed. What now?

The message under the document explains why: usually the file is password-protected or damaged, has no readable text, or is over your plan's page limit. Fix it and upload again.

Why does a scanned PDF take longer?

UpAsk reads the text from each page image first. Longer scans can take a few minutes.

How do I know an answer is right?

Every answer cites the document and page (or section) it used. Click a citation to see the exact passage highlighted and verify it. If the documents don't contain the answer, UpAsk says so.

What do the plan limits mean?

Each plan has a cap on documents, storage, pages per document, pages processed per month (every upload and Reprocess counts) and questions per month. The usage meter and the Billing page show where you stand.

How do I cancel or change my plan?

Open Billing from the user menu and choose Manage subscription. Access continues until the end of the period you paid for.

How do I export or delete my data?

Export a workspace as a ZIP from its Settings. Delete documents, a workspace or your whole account from Settings and Account. Deletion is permanent.

Where are my documents processed?

Document text and your questions are sent to Google's Gemini API to create answers. See the Privacy Policy for the full list of providers.

What can't UpAsk do?

It answers only from your uploaded documents, never from the web. Charts, photos and other images inside text-based PDFs are not read, and spreadsheets and image files can't be uploaded. Handwriting and poor scans are read less reliably. Broad questions are answered from the most relevant passages, not from every page, so ask specific questions or narrow the chat to the documents that matter.

Can I rely on the answers?

Use them to find the right passage quickly, not as professional advice. Language models can make mistakes, so open the cited page before you rely on an answer for anything important, such as a legal, medical or financial decision.
