Study from your own course material

Upload the slides, scripts and handouts from your course and ask questions the way you would ask a classmate. UpAsk answers only from your material, not from the internet, and cites the page each part of the answer comes from, so you study what your lecturer actually taught.

Price elasticity of demand

Ed = (% change in quantity demanded) / (% change in price)

|Ed| > 1: elastic demand. |Ed| < 1: inelastic demand.

How do I calculate price elasticity of demand, and when is demand elastic?

Divide the percentage change in quantity demanded by the percentage change in price. Demand is elastic when the absolute value is greater than 1 and inelastic when it is below 1.

Questions students ask

  • “What is the definition of opportunity cost in lecture 2?”
  • “Which formula do we use for the standard error?”
  • “Summarise the main points of chapter 4.”
  • “What are the differences between mitosis and meiosis according to my notes?”
  • “Where in the slides is the example about supply shocks?”
  • “Explain this topic in simpler words.”

How it works

  1. 1

    Upload a course

Put each course in its own workspace: slides, scripts, scanned handouts and your own notes.

  2. 2

    Ask in your language

Ask in English, German, Spanish, Bosnian or another language, even if the material is in a different one.

  3. 3

    Jump to the page

Click a citation to open the slide or page and read the full context.

Good to know

  • Answers come only from your uploaded material, so they match what your course covers.
  • Narrow a chat to one lecture when you want answers from that lecture only.
  • Formulas in scanned slides are read as text, so check the cited page for anything you will learn by heart.

Questions

Will UpAsk use information from the internet?

No. It answers from the documents in your workspace. If your material doesn't cover a question, it says so.

Can it read scanned handouts?

Yes. Scanned PDFs are read page by page. Handwriting and low-quality scans are less reliable, and UpAsk shows which pages may be hard to read.

Is there a free plan for students?

Yes. The free plan includes 3 documents and 30 questions a month. Personal adds 50 documents and 500 questions a month.

Plans and limits are on the pricing section; more answers in Help.
